Those running the show will have weighed up those same pros and cons when considering whether to bring Blanchard on board and ultimately decided it was a good idea. That brings us back to the reborn women's-only company. Those backstage at AEW and WWE know far more than we do, and it appears when weighing up the pros and cons, both promotions opted to leave a wrestler as good as Blanchard for WoW to pick up. What speaks volumes is the lack of an offer from elsewhere for Blanchard since all that. Impact, with the bigger platform on which to shout from, may have spun its issues with Blanchard in its own favor. How she interacts with others backstage may have been exaggerated by her accusers. The allegations made against Blanchard and her messy departure from Impact are all shrouded in mystery, of course. The Pros And Cons Of Signing Tessa Blanchard
Curious since, as was mentioned above, there is no doubting her ability as a performer. More than a year on the sidelines and neither WWE nor AEW has picked her up. That left Impact with a big mess to clean up and appears to have resulted in Blanchard being blackballed from the business to an extent. Apparently, the former champ refused to turn up for shows she was booked for and wouldn't defend her title. The former Impact Champion brings a lot of baggage with her, though.īlanchard was fired by Impact in 2020 and forced to hand back the company's World Title. It is a relatively unknown brand, even in wrestling circles, and Blanchard is a big name with the reputation of being one of the best wrestlers in the world, regardless of gender. There's no mistaking why WoW has brought Blanchard on board. A lot of online talk focused on Blanchard, though.
And its good wow tv#
WoW's bosses would have hoped everyone was talking about Lee's inclusion and the TV deal it has in place for 2022 following the announcement. However, WoW's announcement has been overshadowed somewhat by the reveal that Tessa Blanchard is involved with its launch and signed to the company. Strictly behind the scenes though as apparently, Lee will not be wrestling in WoW. Not to mention the inclusion of AJ Lee who will be making a welcome return to wrestling.
WoW's return was announced in early October and the plans in place sound pretty exciting. Fear not though, as a revamped Women of Wrestling may well be here to save the day. Add to that the issues Ring of Honor is having at present, which was building a pretty great women's division of its own, and the women's side of the business is looking pretty threadbare right now. While it is clearly striving to improve, women's wrestling hasn't exactly been its focus during its first three years. RELATED: AJ Lee Announces Her Return To Wrestling, Won't Be Competing In The RingĪEW hasn't helped either. Instead, every single match outside of the final was less than four minutes long, harking back to the "give Divas a chance movement" that sparked WWE's women's revolution.
And its good wow series#
Something that should have been a historic series of matches for WWE. Women's wrestling feels as if it has taken a step back once more. For one reason or another though, it has failed to continue that trend. As touched upon above, it built on it and put on some terrific women's wrestling of its own. That's not to say WWE watered down what Impact had already done. Women's Wrestling Needs A Shot In The Arm Most notably Impact Wrestling whose Knockouts division had been showcasing some of the best women's wrestling in the world well before WWE had its first women's Royal Rumble. While the spotlight WWE finally shone on its terrific female performers took things to the next level, other promotions had been doing great work before its women's revolution. Not just because of the ground being broken in WWE either. Women's wrestling was on a long overdue ascent about five years ago.
